unofficial LaunchELF v4.28 Released |
posted by brakken 09-07-2008 |
 |
EP has released a new version of his Unofficial version of LaunchELF. uLaunchELF is a front end or operating system or sorts for the Sony Playstation 2 that allows you to browse and boot homebrew from various sources including memory cards, usb devices, hard drives and the built in dvd-rom drive.
What's New?
LaunchELF v4.28 (2008.09.07)
-Fixed a bug in the CNF parser, preventing variables from being accepted when not separated by any other character from the '=' character preceding its value string.
NB: Since uLE always uses a space separator in creating CNF files, this bug has never affected CNF files created by uLE, but only CNF files edited by 'hand' and the SYSTEM.CNF files of game discs, causing some of those not to work with the PS2Disc command of uLE. So try again now, with games that failed earlier.

Apple 2 DS |
posted by brakken 09-07-2008 |
 |
GrizzlyAdams has released a new emulator for the Nintendo DS. Apple 2 DS emulates the retro Apple II computer that most 1980 grade school kids probably used at some point in time during their studies (at least in the USA).
Quote:
I've been working on this since the end of June when a friend told me about the retroemu contest. This is a completely new emulator written for this compo. Its very unfortunate I was not able to complete the disk emulation in time for entry. This is the fourth Apple II emulator I've worked on, and my second written from scratch. The Apple II is a challenge to emulate because of the many hardware tricks implemented by Steve Wozniak. It was because of these quirks that the Apple was more affordable than many of its competitors. I would have loved to have the disk emulation and other minor bugs fixed so that classics such as Oregon Trail, Number Munchers, Karateka, and Prince of Persia could be played. I plan to continue working on this emulator for the coming months. All feedback is welcome.
What's Implemented:- Apple II+ Hardware
- MOS 65C02 CPU (Written in 100% ARM Assembly)
- Text, LoRes, HiRes, Mixed graphics
- Onscreen Keyboard
- 12 Built-In Applesoft Demos
- Apple 16KB RAM "Language Card"
What's Missing:- Sound (It just recently broke)
- Disk Controllers (Almost working, but disabled for now)
Planned Features:- DS Slot-2 RAM expanders used as Apple "Slinky" RAM Expansion
- Harddisks and 3.5" Floppy support for ProDOS
- Multiple Mockingboards / Phasor Soundcards
- Tape In / Tape Out
- Apple II, IIe, //c Emulation
- Z80 Card
- MIDI Interfaces

ZX81 has released a new version of his Texas Instruments TI-92 graphic calculator emulator for the Sony PSP. The emulator is a breeze to setup and use if you own an IR keyboard. Also, by using this emulator you might have an excuse to bring your PSP to school with.
Quote:
For those who haven't seen previous versions, XTiger is a unix emulator (under X Window) of a TI-92 calculator (Texas instruments).
It was originally written by Jonas Minnberg and was closed source.
Jonas Minnberg has not worked on XTiger for quite a while and he gave Misha Nasledov the code and permission to GPL it.
